Pilz manufactures in Europe and Asia, with sustainability particularly in mind. The new water treatment plant in Jintan shows that you can save resources and save money at the same time.
Pilz manufactures within a worldwide network of production sites. In addition to its headquarters, Pilz manufactures in Betschdorf, at its subsidiary Elesta in Bad Ragaz in Switzerland, and in Jintan, China.
The same production standards and processes and the same machinery are used across all production sites. This guarantees the consistently high quality of the products and smooths the way for international cooperation, both with customers and internally. Sustainability and efficiency in production and logistics are also a main focus. The production network makes a significant contribution towards achieving the company’s targets for the consumption of electricity, water and nitrogen, as well as waste balance. Sustainability targets are derived from the corporate objectives for each plant and are strictly implemented. At each site, measures are being taken to monitor and reduce power consumption, for example. Various projects contribute towards improving the waste balance at each site. Pilz examines at local level how to optimise deliveries and packaging from suppliers.
In 2025, the Jintan production site will celebrate its 10th anniversary. The goal for this development was to supply customers in Asia more quickly with the products they wanted, and that hasn’t changed. The new building in China underlined the company’s claim to be a sustainable business. That’s because, wherever possible, Pilz follows the “Local for Local” strategy and manufactures where the products are used, thus reducing environmentally damaging transport for example.
Conserve resources and save costs at the same time
The site in China also stands for responsible use of resources. The latest example is a plant to treat the wastewater from the cutting machine for aluminium profiles, which went into operation in 2024.

The new system treats the water used for the cutting process so that it can be reused – and does not have to be fed into the external wastewater system. The water treatment plant means a considerable saving of resources: around 38 m³ of wastewater are avoided each year, but that’s not all. Pilz Jintan can also reduce its operating costs significantly.
