Pilz equipped the A+F sort packer with a mod\u00adular, hybrid safety solu\u00adtion con\u00adsisting of a higher-level process con\u00adtroller and safety con\u00adtroller. In con\u00adjunc\u00adtion with the decen\u00adtralised field dis\u00adtrib\u00adu\u00adtors PDP67 and the safety locking device PSENslock 2, which was still new at the time of engi\u00adneering, this eco\u00adnom\u00adical and func\u00adtion\u00adally coherent safety solu\u00adtion ensures optimum pro\u00adtec\u00adtion in the sort packer pro\u00adduced by the pack\u00adaging machine man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adturer. At the same time it has reduced the amount of wiring required and also cre\u00adated valu\u00adable space in the con\u00adtrol cab\u00adinet. The aspect of Secu\u00adrity was another focus of the Safety solu\u00adtion for A+F: as a hybrid safety con\u00adcept, the cur\u00adrent solu\u00adtion enhances Secu\u00adrity by making manip\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtion and unau\u00adtho\u00adrised data access more dif\u00adfi\u00adcult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flexibility and sophisticated safety concepts\u2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Oper\u00ada\u00adtors, including A+F cus\u00adtomers, expect their pack\u00adaging sys\u00adtems not only to have high cycle rates, but also to be highly reli\u00adable. As pack\u00adaging some\u00adtimes changes or a plant has to per\u00adform dif\u00adferent tasks, max\u00adimum flex\u00adi\u00adbility and cost-effec\u00adtive\u00adness are also required. How\u00adever, high cycle rates com\u00adbined with max\u00adimum flex\u00adi\u00adbility demand sophis\u00adti\u00adcated safety con\u00adcepts in order to sat\u00adisfy these require\u00adments. This is because per\u00adsonnel must be able to operate what is usu\u00adally highly auto\u00admated machinery in safety, plus they must have effec\u00adtive pro\u00adtec\u00adtion against the risk of injury, when spon\u00adta\u00adneously reaching into open\u00adings or during set\u00adting oper\u00ada\u00adtions, for example.
