A huge task! Because until then, there was no non-pro\u00adpri\u00adetary com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion stan\u00addard at fieldbus level that could be used for func\u00adtional safety. Pilz has worked inten\u00adsively on the cor\u00adre\u00adsponding spec\u00adi\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtion, with the asso\u00adci\u00adated tests and cer\u00adti\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtions. IO-Link Safety has proven its prac\u00adti\u00adcality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The benefits of IO-Link<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group mgznkr-elements mgznkr-accordion is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group accordion-item is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Cost reduction<\/strong><\/strong>.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group accordion-content is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Para\u00adme\u00adters can be set for the sen\u00adsors and actu\u00ada\u00adtors, reducing the variety of device types needed. That reduces the com\u00adplexity of pur\u00adchasing and cre\u00adates space in the ware\u00adhouse.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group accordion-item is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Innovative machine concepts.<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group accordion-content is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Only seam\u00adless com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion with each sensor and actu\u00adator exploits all the func\u00adtions of intel\u00adli\u00adgent devices. That expands the options for devel\u00adoping inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive plant and machinery.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group accordion-item is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Shorter commissioning times<\/strong><\/strong>.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group accordion-content is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>IO-Link com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion occurs via unshielded cable and uses stan\u00addard indus\u00adtrial con\u00adnec\u00adtors. This saves time and money when swap\u00adping devices.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group accordion-item is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Greater productivity.<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group accordion-content is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>IO-Link devices are iden\u00adti\u00adfied auto\u00admat\u00adi\u00adcally and para\u00adme\u00adters are adopted directly. That enables new, pre\u00addic\u00adtive repair and main\u00adte\u00adnance con\u00adcepts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The final tests and cer\u00adti\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtions by the rel\u00ade\u00advant noti\u00adfied bodies were com\u00adpleted in the spring. Pre\u00advi\u00adously, IO-Link Safety tech\u00adnology was always shown on the stand of the umbrella PROFIBUS user organ\u00adi\u00adsa\u00adtion, but at this year\u2019s SPS exhi\u00adbi\u00adtion in Nurem\u00adberg, for the first time, indi\u00advidual sup\u00adpliers will exhibit their own IO-Link Safety prod\u00aducts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pilz presents system comprising IO-Link Safety Master and sensor technology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe ben\u00adefit of Pilz is that they don\u2019t just offer devices at field level, but rather a com\u00adplete system! That includes sen\u00adsors and actu\u00ada\u00adtors, as well as Master mod\u00adules. For example, how often is a safety locking device switched? What is the status of the safety switch? Is the gate open or closed? What is the state of the sen\u00adsors? This infor\u00adma\u00adtion is gath\u00adered cen\u00adtrally, so that cor\u00adre\u00adsponding reac\u00adtions, such as main\u00adte\u00adnance for example, can be planned at an early stage. Experts agree that it will bring numerous new pos\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adties for data eval\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wolfer esti\u00admates the poten\u00adtial for the new com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion system to be just as large: \u201cThere are now around 460 member com\u00adpa\u00adnies world\u00adwide in the IO-Link con\u00adsor\u00adtium, now offering more than 25,000 avail\u00adable IO-Link enabled prod\u00aducts.
