Alongside products and services, the Pilz Academy is a key element at Pilz, with a long-standing tradition. As the \u201cnew recruit\u201d, how do you see the Academy and the training that\u2019s on offer?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Daniel Kohler:<\/strong> I am con\u00advinced that engi\u00adneers need the nec\u00ades\u00adsary com\u00adpe\u00adtence and an in-depth under\u00adstanding in order to imple\u00adment machinery safety in com\u00adpli\u00adance with direc\u00adtives and stan\u00addards. How\u00adever, in engi\u00adneering or elec\u00adtrotech\u00adnology training, the issue of health and safety is often cov\u00adered only briefly. In many cases, engi\u00adneers can only acquire the nec\u00ades\u00adsary knowl\u00adedge through their own prac\u00adtical expe\u00adri\u00adences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For decades, the Pilz Academy has bridged this gap with training on machinery safety. What\u2019s more, our training on our com\u00adpo\u00adnents, sys\u00adtems and ser\u00advices sup\u00adport our cus\u00adtomers world\u00adwide with plant and machine automa\u00adtion. Our trainers are engi\u00adneers or tech\u00adni\u00adcians with many years of expe\u00adri\u00adence in automa\u00adtion tech\u00adnology and machinery safety. All of them, without excep\u00adtion, have prac\u00adtical expe\u00adri\u00adence. I am very proud of the strong foun\u00adda\u00adtion we have at Pilz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you say a little more about the people in the Pilz Academy who share their knowledge of machinery safety and automation?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The people behind the Academy are experts in their field. They have many years of know-how and pass it on accord\u00adingly, all over the world. That is our moti\u00adva\u00adtion: sharing knowl\u00adedge so that our del\u00ade\u00adgates \u2013 both internal and external \u2013 can sub\u00adse\u00adquently do their job better. Our trainers are pas\u00adsionate about it. You see that at the very least in their demeanour, when they are pre\u00adsenting the training. The feed\u00adback we get from cus\u00adtomers repeat\u00adedly is that our enthu\u00adsiasm rubs off on cus\u00adtomers, the trainer\u2019s intrinsic moti\u00adva\u00adtion is infec\u00adtious. That\u2019s what it\u2019s about. The long tra\u00addi\u00adtion of the Pilz Academy, cou\u00adpled with many years of expe\u00adri\u00adence and the daily com\u00admit\u00adment of my col\u00adleagues. I value that very much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year Pilz is celebrating its 75th anniversary. It\u2019s mainly our values that have brought us through this long period. How is this expressed in contact with the Pilz Academy?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

For me, the Pilz Academy reflects the pas\u00adsion and enthu\u00adsiasm at Pilz \u2013 but the spirit of part\u00adner\u00adship too. We foster long-term rela\u00adtion\u00adships with our cus\u00adtomers. There is recer\u00adti\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtion for our sem\u00adi\u00adnars such as CMSE (Cer\u00adti\u00adfied Machinery Safety Expert), so del\u00ade\u00adgates are guests at Pilz again and again. Valu\u00adable exchange between the most diverse del\u00ade\u00adgates is also very impor\u00adtant to us. We take the time for that. And at the end of each course we bid farewell to highly qual\u00adi\u00adfied cus\u00adtomers \u2013 if they have passed the test on our expert sem\u00adi\u00adnars, they are even cer\u00adti\u00adfied by T\u00dcV Nord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of which: what do our customers take from the safe automation training?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Per\u00adhaps I should answer the ques\u00adtion the other way round: what do they leave behind? Because in the best case, their machinery safety con\u00adcerns are lifted from their shoul\u00adders. We are always up to date in mat\u00adters con\u00adcerning the rel\u00ade\u00advant stan\u00addards and direc\u00adtives. We explain to our del\u00ade\u00adgates how to apply them cor\u00adrectly in prac\u00adtice. Thanks to the trainer\u2019s pro\u00adfes\u00adsional expe\u00adri\u00adence, there are many exam\u00adples \u2013 \u201ctrue sto\u00adries\u201d \u2013 which we dis\u00adcuss together. As well as these sem\u00adi\u00adnars we also offer product training, on our con\u00adfig\u00adurable safe small con\u00adtroller PNOZ\u00admulti for example. In these courses, for example, we demon\u00adstrate how to use our prod\u00aducts and advise on how to achieve max\u00adimum ben\u00adefit from an indi\u00advidual appli\u00adca\u00adtion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addi\u00adtion, infor\u00adma\u00adtion is pro\u00advided about the con\u00adtrol of func\u00adtions from the PSSuni\u00adversal system using I\/O mod\u00adules and options for com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion via Safe\u00adtyNET p. Simple and ver\u00adsa\u00adtile con\u00adfig\u00adu\u00adra\u00adtion even of dis\u00adtrib\u00aduted con\u00adtrol sys\u00adtems is illus\u00adtrated using the soft\u00adware plat\u00adform PAS4000. Fur\u00adther\u00admore, sample exer\u00adcises for the training system are cre\u00adated and tested. Who are the target groups for Pilz Academy training courses?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

That ranges from main\u00adte\u00adnance per\u00adsonnel to works man\u00adagers. It always depends on the respec\u00adtive course. We offer rel\u00ade\u00advant training oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adties for begin\u00adners as well as experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that\u2019s worldwide? How does that work?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Pilz has 42 sub\u00adsidiaries. Each one offers training based on national leg\u00adis\u00adla\u00adtion and the require\u00adments of the respec\u00adtive market. Machine man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adturers and oper\u00ada\u00adtors alike can ben\u00adefit dig\u00adi\u00adtally from the know-how of Pilz experts, wher\u00adever they are \u2013 for example, in regions where Pilz does not offer face-to-face training in close prox\u00adimity to cus\u00adtomers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

So how important is face-to-face training still in the digital age?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

In my opinion, face-to-face training is still very impor\u00adtant. These days people often only do E\u2011Learning or view video tuto\u00adrials. In my view it\u2019s a fal\u00adlacy that del\u00ade\u00adgates can apply the con\u00adtent they have seen after\u00adwards. Social inter\u00adac\u00adtion is very impor\u00adtant, par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlarly with blended learning, which is a com\u00adbi\u00adna\u00adtion of dif\u00adferent methods and media, such as face-to-face and E\u2011Learning. This is where del\u00ade\u00adgates learn most, in my view: Have I under\u00adstood it cor\u00adrectly? How do the other del\u00ade\u00adgates see it? For me that results in a sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcantly better learning out\u00adcome, which is why this per\u00adsonal inter\u00adac\u00adtion is, and remains, very impor\u00adtant at Pilz \u2013 whether it\u2019s face-to-face training, blended learning or online training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So what does Pilz\u2019s digital training offer look like?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The Covid pan\u00addemic was a key factor for expanding our online offer. What had worked pre\u00advi\u00adously in four days face to face, had to be planned more gen\u00ader\u00adously online. Since then, for example, del\u00ade\u00adgates can take the CMSE training online in eight half-days, rather than four days on site \u2013 with no loss of quality. Our inten\u00adtion is to expand this offer sub\u00adstan\u00adtially, par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlarly on shorter courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our latest addi\u00adtion is the CESA \u2013 Cer\u00adti\u00adfied Expert for Secu\u00adrity in Automa\u00adtion. This aims to sup\u00adport com\u00adpa\u00adnies in building up knowl\u00adedge of Indus\u00adtrial Secu\u00adrity, in line with the cur\u00adrent status of the stan\u00addards. What\u2019s cur\u00adrently hap\u00adpening with regard to the new Machinery Reg\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtion is fun\u00adda\u00admental for the day-to-day work of machine man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adturers and oper\u00ada\u00adtors. As experts in Safety and Secu\u00adrity, we want to sup\u00adport them as best we can. We would also like to fur\u00adther develop our product training on the con\u00adfig\u00adurable safe small con\u00adtroller PNOZ\u00admulti or our sensor tech\u00adnology offer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Per\u00adhaps a few final words on inter\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adality. One major goal is to con\u00adtinue to push inter\u00adna\u00adtional col\u00adlab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtion.
